Flames Leaders
The Flames Leadership Network (FLN) supports UIC students during their transition from high school to college, helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed academically and personally. The program works with students who show academic commitment and leadership potential, providing personalized coaching and support throughout their first year and beyond.

What FLN Offers
As an FLN participant, you’ll receive comprehensive support designed to help you thrive at UIC:
- Personal coaching and mentoring: Work with a dedicated Transition Coach who provides one-on-one support throughout your first year
- Financial support: Receive a $300 scholarship each semester to help with educational expenses
- Career exploration: Access workshops and one-on-one counseling from the Career Services Center to explore majors, career paths, and prepare for your future
- Peer Success Coach: Connect with a peer mentor who can help you develop strong academic and professional skills
- Skill-building workshops: Participate in monthly workshops on time management, study strategies, and other success skills
- Community connection: Build relationships with other motivated students and become part of a supportive network
Program Expectations
To remain in good standing with the Flames Leadership Network, students are expected to:
- Enroll in 15 credit hours per semester (30 credit hours per year)
- Maintain good academic standing each semester
- Meet with your Transition Coach regularly (minimum twice per semester)
- Participate in at least four UIC campus experiences per year offered through ACE, Career Services, or other campus programs
- Liberal Arts and Sciences students: Register for LAS 110
