Week 2, Fall 2023: Your Course Syllabus is a Contract between You & Your Professor

ACE Study Tip of the Week

At the beginning of the semester, be sure you fully understand the syllabus. If not, ask questions of your professor and/or the teaching assistant. In college, a syllabus generally lists the preparation you need to do before that day’s class. Quite often, the syllabus is located on the Blackboard website for each course. Here are some of typical questions answered on your syllabus:

  1. How do I contact my professor?
  2. What kind of supplies will I need for class?
  3. How is the course graded?
  4. What is the overall schedule for the class?
  5. What are my professor’s office hours?
  6. What is expected of me during this course?

This course syllabus is a vital part of your successful college education. Use it effectively!

Good luck,
